🕝 2023 BMW i4

Post by scallaghan »

So, I’m using a OBDlink CX and it doesn’t seem to be able to connect to my car.

Right now I connect via Bimmerlink, not the OBD app so I’m wondering if that is why.

Are you able to see the scanner in Sidecar? Or is the scanner not showing up at all? If you are seeing the scanner, can you share a screenshot of what you see when you try to connect?

I can see the scanner, it appears to connect but it can’t detect the VIN and it shows no connectables to run.

Got it! Can you send me an export of your OBD logs then and I'll try to see where it's getting stuck: https://sidecar.clutch.engineering/help ... -scan-logs

I don’t seem to have that option at all. The OBD scanner shows as connected but it isn’t pulling any data or even the VIN (I added it manually as the fallback).

Ah my mistake sorry, I sent a link to the wrong help article. The correct one: https://sidecar.clutch.engineering/help ... -scan-logs

“How to export OBD scan logs”

OK that worked. Attched.

I should also note, if it helps, that Home Assistant has a plugin for BWM iDrive that works: https://www.home-assistant.io/integrati ... ted_drive/

From what I can see in your logs it looks like your BMW might be talking in 29 bit CAN but isn't really wanting to communicate with us, so we'll need to try a few things.

In a Sidecar Terminal session, please run the following and then share the OBD logs to my support email:

Code: Select all

ATCEA07
ATTAF1
ATFCSH6F1
ATSH6F1
ATFCSD07300000
ATFCSM1
ATCRA607
22DD68

Then, in a new terminal session, also run this:

Code: Select all

ATPBE101
ATSPB
ATBI
ATSH6F1
ATAT0
ATST0F
ATCRA607
ATCEA07
ATFCSH6F1
ATFCSD07300800
ATFCSM1
22DDBC
22DD68
22DD69
226335
