✅ Nissan Leaf

Post by vvdt »

Hi all,

I'm in the process of getting started with my 2019 40kWh Nissan Leaf. I tried the ELMcheck app but I got an error that the OBD reader was already connected to another app, which is LeafSpy. Any tips how to disconnect from that other app on iOS? Is a swipe up on the app enough or do I need to do something different?

Edit: I tried deleting LeafSpy from my phone and multiple times replugging the OBD reader in the port but it did’t work sadly.

Just ordered the recommended OBD reader: Vgate iCar Pro Bluetooth 4.0. It will be delivered on Monday.

Which scanner were you originally using? I’ll order it so that I can add it to the support matrix. It is possible that Sidecar is seeing it but not recognizing it.

Also, I did some initial testing this morning with the Vgate iCar Pro Bluetooth BLE 4.0. It said it couldn’t find a VIN number.
I’ve emailed you the data export.

I just tried again, this time after I added the leaf manually to my garage using the VIN. It still gives the same no vin error when I try to connect to the OBD reader. I’ll send you the logs.

Sorry for the delay! v1.17.0 is out now with some improvements though I suspect they might not address the Leaf issues you're seeing here. Looking into the logs you sent now!

I was using this one: https://www.amazon.nl/LELink-Bluetooth- ... B00QJRYMFC

v1.17.0 does add support for the LELink scanner btw; if you still have it please do try it out and let me know if it's still not connecting. The VIN might still not appear yet though, I'm looking into that issue right now.

One thing to confirm: are you driving a 2019 or 2018 Leaf? The app seems to think you've got a 2018 but the VIN decoder could be wrong.
